Win The Hour, Win The Day
Episode Excerpt
Bruce: Considering that many of us are working from home right now during COVID-19, give us some tips about working in the home and being productive while still being mindful.
Kris Ward: I primarily work with entrepreneurs and they struggle with that all the time. A lot of them work either from the home at least half time, if not full time. When you're dealing with an entrepreneur, there's all these dynamics at play – the schedule and the family and all these different things that happen. I tend to work with entrepreneurs who have big dreams and they have ambitions. They really want to get stuff done and out. You want to have some strategies in place that really are going to offer you success.
You do have to set up some routines and some boundaries in your home and in your calendar. Putting a sign on the door [to indicate you're working] is definitely one of them.
Start thinking about your day. We all dive in and think, we've got the whole day ahead of us, this is great, I've got so much time. I would say, chunk it down. That's where we get the concept, win the hour, win the day. If you look at your hour, and you say, here's what I have to get done in this hour, that really holds you much more accountable.
So many people don't put on their calendar, things they have to do, or things that they do every day. They put outside influences like, I have to be on this zoom call, or go somewhere else. What happens is, you're diving into the day and you think you have eight hours but you may only have five.
